Our History

March 1993

Winklebury Infant School Pre-School was formed by a group of parents and registers as a charity: 1042324

June 1994

Winkebury Infant School Pre-School (W.I.S.P.S) registers with Ofsted: 110165

February 2006 - Otober 2007

​Lisa Hockney is appointed as an Interim Manager of the Pre-School during a turbulent staffing time.

October 2007

Toni Carver (Nocella) appointed as new Manager.

September 2008

Expanded into the Infant school, Mouse Class, which enabled W.I.S.P.S to take on more children to meet higher demand.

January 2009

Investment of £16K to improve W.I.S.P.S environment for children, W.IS.P.S Zones created!

June 2009

Ofsted Inspection rates W.I.S.P.S as Outstanding.

March 2010

W.I.S.P.S wins the Children Links award for 2009/2010 as the most improved setting in quality.

September 2010

W.I.S.P.S expands into the Junior School to allow for increased pupil numbers at the Infant School.

October 2010

OFSTED Inspection rates Outstanding, 2nd year running.

April 2013

W.I.S.P.S is able to accept 2 year Early Years Entitlement Funding.

June 2015

​W.I.S.P.S is graded as Good in their Ofsted Inspection. Recommendations for improvements were already identified in a development plan prior to the inspection.

August 2015

W.I.S.P.S converts to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation: 1162991​, to allow for future expansion.

October 2016

Wisps registers as a Tax Free Childcare Provider.

June 2017

Wisps registers as 30 hours funding provider. Childcare Choices will provide parents with information.
